The first major challenge I faced moving from Blackboard into Canvas was figuring out how to work past Canvas' rigidity to preserve the colorful, visual, and text-rich design I had created in Blackboard.

An important realization that helped me move from Blackboard into Canvas was to think of Pages in Canvas as a receptacle for the content I had created in Blackboard’s Folders and Items. If you have utilized Folders and Items heavily in Blackboard, and have filled these with with various media, then the tutorial on the next page of this module may give you some ideas for preserving your content.

The following tutorial assumes you have decided to move your content into Canvas manually rather than importing a prior course into Canvas automatically all at once. If you have imported everything already, I would recommend organizing your media files in Canvas first before you begin working with the html code.

Also, Canvas does accommodate some cool design functions that improve upon the way Blackboard's Folders present content to students.
