Topic 06: What this looks like: Discussion forums

You will want to be sure that students have access to the how to for this as well. Here is what I usually say in my instructions: "You have the option of uploading a video response or an audio response for this discussion as well. See this guide for posting either an audio or video response. (Links to an external site.) If you are writing your initial post, it should be 150-200 words.  If you are completing a video or audio response, those need to be at least 2-3 minutes long." The hyperlink in the quote there takes students to the Canvas help pages for students, and takes them through a how-to.

 

It is also important to remind students about the importance of equity and inclusion in their posts as well. I use the framing of Netiquette, and remind them that they need to add transcripts or captions as well. Remember, students can use Canvas Studio too!
