Canvas Collaborations is a great tool for group projects, especially for online courses!

Some highlights include:

• students can choose to work on documents synchronously and asynchronously
• multiple students can work on a document collectively and at the same time
• documents are automatically saved by Google Drive 
• student collaborations can be directly uploaded as an assignment submission
• instructors can monitor student work, suggest revisions and make comments
